Commissioned by Inspirate and exhibited as part of their exhibition ‘400 years, Britain & India’ the body of work explores the relationship and influences of the two countries over four centuries. Each individual piece looks at different aspects of British influence on Indian culture and the reciprocal dialogic impact of India both as a colony and after independence. Each of the artworks are created within a wooden crate which forms the metaphor for trade being a main reason for Britain’s presence on the Sub Continent, but also the reasoning behind acts of atrocities committed by colonising nations.
